International Women in Engineering Day

Today, June 23rd, is International Women in Engineering Day. This day is celebrated to raise awareness of the achievements of women in engineering and to encourage more girls and women to consider careers in the field.

The origins of International Women in Engineering Day can be traced back to 2014, when the Women's Engineering Society (WES) launched the campaign. The WES is a professional organization for women engineers in the United Kingdom.

The objective of International Women in Engineering Day is to celebrate the outstanding achievements of women engineers throughout the world and to encourage more girls and women to consider careers in engineering.

Here are five women engineers who are making a difference in the field:

  • Hannah Schmitz is a Formula 1 engineer at Red Bull Racing. She is responsible for the development of the team's race strategy. Schmitz is a role model for young women who want to pursue careers in automotive engineering.
